In 2012, with your help, I replaced a 12-year incumbent with the promise of bringing common sense, energy and a parent’s perspective to the Board.
I’ve delivered by tirelessly working with the community, teachers and district leaders to focus on the main goal of our public schools – high student achievement.
The last four years haven’t been easy. We replaced our superintendent, worked through financial difficulties caused by a bad economy, implemented new-teacher mentoring programs, approved upgrading our transportation system, adjusted pay for merit instead of just time served, offered more support for students choosing careers in the trades over college and helped advance our college-bound students to compete in a global economy.
The School District of Hillsborough County is a massive organization with 212,000 students and 27,000 employees. Change comes slow and has to be fought for each and every day.
I hope I have kept your confidence and ask for your vote to keep fighting for change.
